THE VETERAN'S MEMORIAL PROJECT

The outpouring of local and regional support was unprecedented in the 30 years I’ve been working on community projects.  While committee members worked on design plans, fundraising and other activities, local businesses and individuals stepped up to provide almost everything needed for the project, from concrete, electrical and plumbing to landscaping and placement of benches, plaques and other amenities. 

The Civil Engineering Squad of the 173^rd Fighter Wing, Kingsley Field, designed the memorial and accomplished the majority of the hands-on work with assistance from local contractors, community supporters and City staff.  I was honored to be a member of the committee, and deeply touched when asked to place the City’s wreath at the dedication ceremony, near the six bricks my sister and I purchased in memory of our family’s veterans.
